There are many different rumors going around about how to achieve top search engine placement. This can be a more complicated task than you once thought. Modern search engines, like google, have long complex algorithms to calculate how your website will be ranked. I will try to explain the primary factors which influence your ranking, and how to improve them.

The two main factors in getting top 10 search engine placement are:
Link Popularity- # of links pointing towards your website.
Keyword Density- # of occurances of selected keywords.

Increasing your Link Popularity will give your entire website a significant boost in search engine rankings and placement. You can do this by asking related websites to place a link to your site onto theirs. The more links you have, the better!

Keyword density is the number of times that your selected keywords / keyphrases appear in the text of your website. This is a very important part of getting top ten search engine placement and top search engine ranking. To do this, make sure that you have your main keywords listed in your text atleast 3-5 times. Implement the keywords in conjuction with your existing text, dont just repeat the keywords hoping to increase your search engine placement like that.. this is called keyword spamming, and can hurt your website.
